Oxana Mishina was born in Murmansk, far beyond the polar circle in Russia, went to study to St. Petersburg and received a Philosophy Doctor degree in Theoretical Physics from the St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University in 2009. She worked as a researcher in Copenhagen (Denmark), in Paris (France), and in Saarbrücken and Braunschweig (Germany).
